Inn Focus: The Gift Shop at Inn at Old Virginia

Not Your Everyday B & B Gift Shop

Gift Shop at Inn at Old VirginiaEverything about the Inn at Old Virginia is beautiful and elegant. So, of course, the gift shop is too! It’s filled with all kinds of unusual items that will delight and surprise you.

Kathryn Gavel, one of the innkeepers, is responsible for the beautiful and tasteful selection of gifts on display. Kathryn’s sharp eye for unusual gifts includes calendars, children’s books, and puzzles by Will Moses, Grandma Moses’ great grandson. Mr. Moses’ style, American folk art, bears a strong resemblance to his great grandmother’s work.

Then there is the extraordinary photography of local artist Rebecca Lilly, a nature lover.  When looking at her photography, you won’t look at Mother Nature in the same way again. Her note cards have exquisite photographic arrangements of flowers with mountains and pastures as the backdrop.

But the gift shop has much more to offer.

Kathryn’s Vision for the Gift Shop

Teapots in Gift ShopBecause the Inn is such an elegant place, Kathryn wanted to bring that same feel to the gift shop. “I wanted it to have that extra touch that reflects the whole feeling of the Inn,” she said. And she has certainly achieved her goal.

With an eclectic array of gift ideas for summer, Kathryn is now focusing on a theme for Fall. “We’re going to have a nice selection of teapots,” she said brightly. From bone china teapots to the finest teapots found in antique stores, Kathryn is on the hunt for the truly unique and beautiful!

So stay tuned.

One More Unusual Item in the Shop

Granola at Inn at Old VAYou’ll also find in the gift shop stationery, decorative, practical serving plates, natural hand cremes, and soaps. But there’s one item that has no season and is popular all year round, granola.

Made at the Inn, the granola is so popular because it’s very tasty. In fact, Kathryn tells the story about a local Staunton company that wanted to entice a pastry company from the Netherlands to locate here.

What did they send them? A gift basket of goodies, which includes the Inn at Old Virginia’s granola!

Stop in and see what we have to offer! We promise you won’t leave empty-handed. And let Kathryn know what you think of the items she has selected.

Book your stay with us here. Enjoy not only the granola but our hearty breakfasts, too!
