Downtown Staunton Offers Plenty of Shopping and Holiday Magic
With Thanksgiving fast approaching, holiday momentum is building in downtown Staunton. The season of magic is upon us!
Guests at the Inn at Old Virginia love spending time with us during the holiday season. Why? There’s so much fun stuff to do while getting in a little shopping.
Because Staunton is an historic town, you can experience both the magic and charm of all that Christmas stands for, while browsing for restaurants and shops on your smart phone!
Holiday Tea at Anne Hathaway Cottage Tea Room
What better way to kick off the biggest holiday of the year than with a step back in time at the Anne Hathaway Cottage Tea Room! Life’s a little slower here and that’s good thing.
Because there’s plenty of hustle bustle outside!
A beautiful china tea luncheon awaits complemented with handmade scones, shortbread, and tea sandwiches. Imported jams and clotted cream make the perfect tea time!
Bring friends, cozy up to a welcoming fireplace and catch up. You can even grab some stocking stuffers like tea and jams!
Frontier Culture Museum’s Lantern Tour
Visit 19th century Ireland, Germany, England, and America on an after-hours tour in a horse-drawn carriage! The Lantern Tours will whisk you through time to see and experience original farmsteads.
Fully costumed interpreters will perform music and short works. You’ll finish the evening with light refreshments. These tours run the weekends of December 15-17 and 21-23.
And we haven’t even told you about the Blow Your Own Ornament at Sunspots or the Historic Staunton Foundation’s Holiday Tour. Plus, the American Shakespeare Center will host the classic, A Christmas Carol and Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some).
The latter is a contemporary twist on Dickens’ classic Christmas tale. No matter which performance you choose, the spirit of the holiday will surround you!
Last, but certainly not least, the Heifetz Institute will have a holiday homecoming of their own. An all-star cast of alums, Artists in Residence, as well as faculty will perform a program of classical masterworks and music perfect for the season. (December 11th. 7:30 p.m.)
There’s plenty more to see and do. We’ve only scratched the surface!
